Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist – Childrens Disabilities
STAFF GRADE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST – DUBLIN
My client a private company operating in Dublin are seeking a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist to work with and help change the lives of children with disabilities. This is a permanent position with good compensation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine and diagnose the clients speech therapy requirements drawing up communication programmes appropriate to the professional standards of a speech therapist.
- Monitor and assess clients progress and modify programmes as may be required to suit the needs of the client.
- Liaise and involve staff nurses and other unit personnel working directly with the client.
- Provide ongoing support to staff in their day to day implementation of communication programmes.
- Facilitate parental involvement in the communication programmes for their children.
- Liaise and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in respect of programme placing.
- Attend multi-disciplinary case conferences and other relevant meetings as required.
- Liaise and work with community agencies as appropriate.
- Work in conjunction with the speech therapy college co-operating in the training of students.
- Participate in the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders (dysphagia) provided they have the appropriate training and post-graduate coursework completed.
- Participate and be involved in the nurse education process through theoretical and practical input if required.
- Participate and be involved in in-service professional development programmes and training as required.
- Participate in research studies and projects relating to speech therapy as required.
- Maintain detailed records, statistical data and submit reports on clients as required.
- Attend relevant courses and keep clinically up to date.
- To attend supervision with the nominated Senior Professional within your profession ( this may be the Head Of Department or another ) to support monitoring of caseloads in order that service users and families receive optimum benefit from the dept .
- Participate in the service Annual Performance Review System.
- Ensure that each person with an intellectual disability is treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
- Ensure that the highest standards of confidentiality are maintained in relation to all areas of work.
- Maintain a high standard of work performance, attendance, appearance and punctuality at all times.
- Ensure that good working relationships are maintained with colleagues.
- Being aware of emergency procedures and ensure that the health and safety policy of the service is strictly adhered to.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality at all times in relation to areas of work.
