My client provides specialist services for children and young people with disabilities, promoting independence, wellbeing, and personal development. They deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, placing children and families at the heart of everything they do.
The Staff-Grade Psychologist will deliver psychological assessment, intervention, and support for children and young people with complex disabilities and developmental needs. The role will include contributing to multidisciplinary care planning, implementing evidence-based interventions, and supporting families and staff. This is an excellent role for a psychologist looking to build experience in a dynamic, child-focused service. This role is based within Donegal town.
Responsibilities of Staff Grade Psychologist
- Conduct psychological assessments for children and young people with developmental, behavioral, emotional, or learning needs.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based interventions under guidance from senior psychologists, including behavioral support, emotional regulation strategies, and developmental support.
- Provide consultation and advice to families, carers, and staff regarding children’s psychological and developmental needs.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning, collaborating with educational, health, and social care professionals.
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and records in line with professional standards and organizational policies.
- Participate in supervision and professional development to enhance clinical skills and service delivery.
- Support service evaluation, quality improvement, and adherence to safeguarding and ethical standards.
Requirements of Staff Grade Psychologist
- Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
- Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology
Or
An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. Application for this post must be inclusive of letter of validation.
- Experience working with children and young people, ideally with disabilities, developmental, or behavioral needs.
- Experience delivering psychological assessment and interventions in clinical, educational, or community settings.
- Experience contributing to multidisciplinary team care planning.
