Staff Grade Occupational Therapist – CDNT
The Staff Grade Occupational Therapist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team providing child-centered, family-focused, and community-based services. The role will support children with disabilities and their families in achieving their developmental goals through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of progress. This position is based in Kilkenny
Key Responsibilities of a Occupational Therapist:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with varying physical, sensory, and cognitive disabilities.
- Develop individualized intervention plans to support the child’s development, participation, and functional independence.
- Provide direct intervention sessions, including one-to-one therapy, group interventions, and home-based programs.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers, to provide holistic care.
- Work alongside families and caregivers to ensure that interventions align with family goals and are sustainable within the child’s daily routines.
- Educate and train families, caregivers, and other professionals in strategies to support the child’s participation in various environments.
- Develop and deliver workshops or training sessions for parents, educators, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation for all assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
- Prepare progress reports and contribute to team meetings, case conferences, and annual reviews as required.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with best practices and advancements in pediatric occupational therapy and disability services.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and other professional development opportunities within the CDNT.
- Comply with all CDNT policies, Health Service Executive (HSE) guidelines, and occupational therapy standards.
- Adhere to the ethical and legal requirements set by CORU and ensure confidentiality and integrity in all work practices.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) as an Occupational Therapist.
- Relevant experience working in paediatrics or with children with disabilities, preferably in a community or clinical setting would be beneficial.
- Experience in assessment, goal setting, and implementing interventions for children with physical, sensory, and/or developmental disabilities.
