Speech & Language Therapist
We are currently recruiting Staff Grade and Senior Speech and Language Therapists to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Westmeath.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary paediatric disability team providing Speech and Language Therapy services to children and young people with a range of developmental and complex needs.
The successful candidates will work closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary colleagues to support children in achieving their communication, feeding, and functional goals within a family-centred model of care.
Key Responsibilities of the Speech and Language Therapists:
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children presenting with speech, language, communication, and feeding/swallowing difficulties
- Manage a varied paediatric disability caseload within a community setting
- Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes and care plans
- Support children with communication development, social interaction, language skills, speech sound difficulties, and functional communication needs
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, and multidisciplinary team members including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, and Nursing
- Deliver education and support to families and caregivers
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical supervision, and service development initiatives
Senior Grade Responsibilities (in addition to above)
- Manage complex clinical caseloads
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support leadership within the Speech and Language Therapy service
Requirements for the Speech and Language Therapists:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- CORU registration
- For Staff Grade: relevant clinical or placement experience
- For Senior Grade: minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
- Paediatric and/or disability experience desirable
- Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Experience working within CDNT, disability, or primary care services
- Experience supporting children with ASD, developmental delay, complex communication needs, or dysphagia
- Full driver’s licence and access to own transport
