Social Worker – YAMHS
Medforce are working with a Youth and Adolescent Mental Health Service (YAMHS) which provides specialist community mental health assessment and intervention to young people aged 16–18 years and their families who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
The service operates within a multidisciplinary team model and delivers evidence-based, recovery-oriented care in collaboration with young people, families, and relevant agencies.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Laois/Offaly YAMHS multidisciplinary team to:
- Provide specialist mental health assessment and intervention to young people aged 16–18 years.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions appropriate to the needs of adolescents presenting with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
- Work systemically with families and caregivers.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning and risk management.
Responsibilities of Social Worker – YAMHS
- Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessment and safety planning.
- Develop and implement individualised care and treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions appropriate to professional discipline.
- Work collaboratively with parents, guardians, and family members.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and clinical discussions.
- Liaise with community services, primary care, educational settings, and relevant agencies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with service and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives as required.
Requirements of Social Worker – YAMHS
- Professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Social Work, Clinical/Counselling Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or equivalent).
- Registration with the relevant professional regulatory body (e.g., CORU / NMBI / PSI, as applicable).
- Demonstrated experience working in mental health services.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
- Experience in risk assessment and management.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience working within CAMHS/YAMHS or similar specialist adolescent mental health services.
- Training in evidence-based therapeutic modalities relevant to adolescent mental health.
- Experience in crisis intervention.
