Social Worker
The Social Worker will provide professional social work services to children, young people and families in accordance with legislation, national policies, and Tusla’s Child Protection and Welfare Strategy. The post holder will promote the safety, wellbeing and rights of children while supporting families to achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities of Social Worker
- Receive and assess child protection and welfare referrals.
- Undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans.
- Carry out child protection investigations in line with Children First guidelines.
- Prepare and present cases at Child Protection Conferences and Court proceedings where required.
- Manage a defined caseload in line with Tusla policies.
- Develop and implement care plans in partnership with children and families.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case records.
- Review cases regularly to ensure appropriate interventions.
- Liaise with schools, An Garda Síochána, health services, courts and community organisations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute to coordinated service delivery and safeguarding practices.
- Engage in supervision and reflective practice.
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD).
- Adhere to data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding legislation.
Requirements of Social Worker
- Hold a recognised qualification in Social Work (CQSW, MSW, or equivalent).
- Be registered, or eligible for registration, with CORU
- Have relevant post-qualification experience
- Possess a full, clean driving licence and access to a car
