Senior Speech and Language Therapist
The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will join an established interdisciplinary Young Adults Team, providing specialist clinical support to young adults aged 18–26 with complex disabilities as they transition from school to adult services. Based in Johnstown Village, Co. Kildare, the role involves working across day services, homes and community settings throughout Dublin, South Kildare and West Wicklow, with the option to work remotely one day per week.
The post holder will deliver high-quality, person-centred Speech and Language Therapy services, including assessment, intervention, consultation, team formulation and staff training. Working collaboratively with young adults, families and multidisciplinary colleagues, they will develop meaningful goals, apply clinical reasoning to plan and review interventions, and provide recommendations that support communication, participation and quality of life.
Key responsibilities of Senior Speech and Language Therapist
- Managing and prioritising an independent caseload within service priorities.
- Completing comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions for adults with complex communication needs.
- Supporting individuals with Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS/Dysphagia) where appropriately trained and competent in line with IASLT standards.
- Promoting the use of assistive technology and communication supports to maximise independence.
- Providing education, consultation and training to families, frontline staff and partner organisations.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and producing clear, concise reports.
- Participating in clinical meetings, multidisciplinary case discussions and service planning.
- Ensuring practice complies with CORU standards, safeguarding legislation, organisational policies and professional codes of conduct.
- Participating in research, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Requirements of Senior Speech and Language Therapist
- Must be of a Senior level or qualified (3 years +)
- Degree of Masters in Speech and Language
- Registered with CORU
