Senior Speech and Language Therapist
We are currently recruiting a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join the Older Persons Residential Units based in an acute setting based in South Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team providing specialist Speech & Language Therapy services to older adults with complex communication and swallowing needs. You will play a key role in delivering person-centred care that enhances residents’ quality of life, promotes safe swallowing, and supports effective communication.
The Role
As a Senior Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication, cognitive-communication, voice, and dysphagia disorders.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans to support residents with complex clinical needs.
- Work closely with GPs, Nurses, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide specialist advice on dysphagia management, texture-modified diets, and safe swallowing practices.
- Deliver education and training to healthcare staff, residents, and families.
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff and students where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
- CORU registration.
- A minimum of three years’ post-qualification clinical experience.
- Experience working with adult dysphagia and older persons is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full driver’s licence and access to a car is desirable.
