Senior Speech and Language Therapist
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a Primary Care Team based in South Dublin, working across adult primary care, adult medical, and adult disability services.
The successful candidate will manage a varied and complex adult caseload, providing high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention for individuals presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team in a community-based setting.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:
- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders
- Manage a diverse caseload including stroke, neurological conditions, progressive disorders, and intellectual disabilities
- Deliver dysphagia assessment and management in line with best practice guidelines
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, and case discussions
- Work collaboratively with GPs, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other MDT members
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and carers
- Supervise and support staff grade SLTs and students where appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with CORU and organisational standards
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- Current CORU registration
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience
- Experience working with adult populations, including dysphagia management
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in Primary Care or community-based services
- Experience working with adult disability services
- Postgraduate training in dysphagia or neurological rehabilitation
- Experience supervising junior staff or students
