Senior Speech and Language Therapist
We are seeking an experienced Senior Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to join the multidisciplinary team in a Health Centre with the East Galway & South Roscommon. This is a senior clinical role where experience in dysphagia is essential, providing specialist assessment, intervention, and leadership within a community and primary care setting.
The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload, contribute to service development, and support high standards of dysphagia care across the service.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:
- Provide specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention for adults, with a strong focus on dysphagia management.
- Independently manage a complex clinical caseload in line with HSE policies and evidence-based practice.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Nursing, and Medical staff.
- Lead and contribute to dysphagia care planning, risk management, and clinical decision-making.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and support to staff-grade SLTs and students.
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high-quality clinical documentation in accordance with HSE and professional standards.
Essential Criteria for the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
- CORU registration (mandatory).
- Significant post-qualification experience, with essential experience in dysphagia assessment and management.
- Strong clinical reasoning, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in Primary Care, community, rehabilitation, or older persons services.
- Experience providing dysphagia training or contributing to service-level dysphagia initiatives.
- Experience supervising staff or students.
