Senior Speech and Language Therapist – Early Discharge
Medforce are looking for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to work in an Early Supported Discharge (ESD) ICPOP Team provides a specialist multidisciplinary service for older persons, enabling timely discharge from acute hospitals and supporting safe rehabilitation in the community. This role is based in Naas.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Speech and Language Therapist
- Provide advanced assessment and intervention for clients with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia post-discharge.
- Contribute to comprehensive care planning as part of an interdisciplinary team, which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nursing, Social Work, and GPs.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior SLTs or students as required.
- Develop and implement effective, evidence-based therapy programs tailored to the needs of older persons in home and community settings.
- Collaborate with family members and carers, offering education and support as part of the rehabilitation process.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records and reports.
- Participate in service evaluation, audit, and development in line with ICPOP goals and HSE quality standards.
Requirements of Senior Speech and Language Therapist
- A min level 8 qualification in Speech and Language Therapy approved by CORU.
- Registered with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
- Competence and post-graduate training in dysphagia management.
- Access to own transport and a full, clean driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in early supported discharge, community rehabilitation, or integrated care for older persons.
- Familiarity with the ICPOP model and national HSE frameworks for older person services.
