My client a CDNT based in Athlone are looking for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to provide a high-quality speech and language therapy service to children and young people, delivering evidence-based therapy, assessments, and interventions for a range of communication and swallowing disorders. The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will play a key role in multidisciplinary team collaboration, service development, and supervision of junior staff and student clinicians.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Speech and Language Therapist
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address communication needs and goals.
- Provide specialist intervention for children with complex needs, including those with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), language disorders, and speech articulation issues.
- Offer direct therapy, group therapy, and home programs to children and their families.
- Provide detailed written reports, including progress evaluations and recommendations, in a clear, concise manner.Work closely with other professionals (e.g., occupational therapists, psychologists, pediatricians) to develop holistic treatment plans.
- Liaise with schools and other service providers to ensure appropriate educational support and integration of speech and language strategies
- Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and mentorship to junior speech and language therapists, student clinicians, and other allied health professionals.
- Support the Clinical Lead in service delivery, staff training, and quality assurance activities.
- Take responsibility for specific service improvement projects and initiatives as directed by the Clinical Lead.
- Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to ongoing research and development within the service.
Key Requirements of Senior Speech and Language Therapist:
- A recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- Registration with the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in speech and language therapy, including experience working with children.
- Proven experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a range of speech and language disorders in children.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and standards in the field of speech and language therapy.
- Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff or students is highly desirable.
