Senior Speech and Language Therapist
This is a part time, 24 hour week spread across Monday – Friday with excellent benefits including free onsite parking, incremental HSE pay-scale, generous annual leave entitlement and CPD opportunties.
Are you an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for empowering adults with physical and sensory disabilities? We are seeking an experienced SLT to join our client’s reputable community-based team in North County Louth (Dundalk). This role will focus on providing specialist support to adults with complex communication and swallowing needs, offering life-changing interventions within their local community. Dysphagia training is essential, as you will be responsible for assessing and managing swallowing difficulties to ensure safe and effective care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and create individualized treatment plans for adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties.
- Deliver targeted interventions to clients in diverse community settings, including home visits, care facilities, and outpatient clinics.
- Provide specialized dysphagia management, ensuring safe and effective swallowing strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, and social workers, to support holistic client care.
- Educate and train clients, families, and caregivers on strategies to enhance communication and swallowing safety, promoting greater independence.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the overall enhancement of SLT services for adults with physical and sensory disabilities.
- Mentor, supervise, and provide clinical guidance to junior SLTs and students, fostering a supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
- BSc or MSc degree in Speech and Language Therapy (recognised by CORU).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably with adult populations.
- CORU registration and eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Full clean driver’s license with access to own vehicle.
- Specific training and demonstrated experience in dysphagia management are required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, innovation, and continuous professional development.
