Senior Social Worker
We are currently recruiting a Senior Social Worker to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Athlone.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary paediatric disability team providing social work support to children and families with a range of developmental and complex needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with children, parents, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to provide family-centred support, advocacy, assessment, and intervention within the community setting.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Social Worker:
- Provide social work assessment, intervention, and support to children and families attending the CDNT service
- Support families in accessing appropriate services, resources, and community supports
- Manage a varied and complex paediatric disability caseload
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, and Medical professionals
- Provide emotional support, advocacy, and practical guidance to families and carers
- Participate in safeguarding and child protection processes where required
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, supervision, and service development initiatives
Senior Grade Responsibilities
- Manage complex family and safeguarding cases
- Provide leadership and support within the social work service
- Support junior staff and students where required
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to clinical governance and best practice standards
Requirements for the Senior Social Worker:
- Qualification in Social Work
- CORU registration
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
- Experience working with children, families, disability, or community services desirable
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Experience within paediatric disability or CDNT services
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Full driver’s licence and access to own transport
