Senior Social Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Letterkenny.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, family-centred services to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex developmental needs. This role focuses on supporting children and families through assessment, intervention, and coordination of services in line with the Progressing Disability Services (PDS) framework.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social worker with a strong interest in disability and family support.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Social Worker:
- Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments of children and families within a CDNT setting
- Support families in understanding and navigating their child’s needs and available services
- Deliver evidence-based interventions and family support strategies
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, and case discussions
- Liaise with external agencies including schools, primary care services, and community supports
- Support safeguarding and child protection processes as required
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students where appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with CORU and organisational standards
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Social Worker:
- Qualification in Social Work recognised by CORU
- Current CORU registration
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience
- Experience working with children and families
- Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and policy
- Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a disability service or CDNT
- Experience supporting children with complex needs and their families
- Postgraduate training relevant to child, family, or disability services
