Senior Social Worker
Medforce are recruiting a Senior Social Worker to join a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team in North Dublin.
This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support children, adolescents, and their families experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
This is a full time, 35 hour week spread across Monday – Friday with excellent benefits including free onsite parking, incremental HSE pay-scale, generous annual leave entitlement and CPD opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist social work assessment and intervention to children and young people referred to CAMHS, including risk assessment and safeguarding concerns.
- Offer therapeutic support to families, caregivers, and young people experiencing mental health challenges, including psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and family work.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists, to ensure holistic care planning.
- Contribute to child protection and welfare processes, including liaising with Tusla, schools, and other relevant agencies.
- Lead on risk management and safeguarding cases, providing consultation and support to colleagues where required.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions, such as CBT-informed approaches, systemic family work, or trauma-focused therapies, depending on experience.
- Support service development initiatives, including policy development, clinical governance, and service evaluations.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior social workers, social care workers, and students on placement.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and HSE standards.
Essential Criteria
- Recognised qualification in Social Work (e.g., NQSW, Master’s in Social Work) and CORU registration.
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with at least one year in a mental health or CAMHS setting.
- Strong knowledge of child protection, welfare policies, and mental health legislation in Ireland.
- Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and therapeutic interventions with children and families.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an MDT setting and liaise with external agencies.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate training in systemic family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), or trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience providing supervision or leadership in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD or autism.
