Senior Psychologist – Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT)
The Senior Psychologist in the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) in Meath, will provide high-quality psychological services for children and young people with complex disabilities and developmental needs. The role involves delivering specialized assessments, therapeutic interventions, and ongoing support for children and their families, as well as guiding and mentoring other team members. This role is crucial to the CDNT’s commitment to family-centered, integrated care, and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Psychologist
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using standardized and best-practice methods to assess developmental, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
- Formulate accurate diagnoses and recommend interventions that address the specific needs of children and young people within the CDNT caseload.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic plans to support children’s social, emotional, and developmental wellbeing.
- Provide individual and group-based therapeutic interventions and counseling for children, young people, and their families.
- Offer support, guidance, and psychoeducation to families and caregivers to enhance their understanding of the child’s needs and promote effective care strategies.
- Engage families in the intervention process, empowering them to take an active role in their child’s development and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively within the CDNT, liaising closely with other healthcare professionals (such as Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Physiotherapists) to deliver integrated, person-centered care.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and care planning to ensure coordinated and holistic support for each child.
- Contribute to service development initiatives, promoting best practices and evidence-based approaches in disability and developmental services.
- Monitor and evaluate service delivery, making recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
- Lead or contribute to research projects, audits, and outcome measures to assess the impact of interventions and improve CDNT services.
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and clinical guidance to junior psychologists, assistant psychologists, and students.
- Deliver training to multidisciplinary team members and external stakeholders as required to enhance service knowledge and skill development.
Qualifications & Experience of Senior Psychologist
- Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject
- Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology
- Have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate experience in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the post graduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post qualification experience as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years’ experience requirement.
