Senior/Clinical Physiotherapist
The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Pelvic Health will provide advanced, specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with pelvic health conditions across North Roscommon and East Galway. The post holder will work as part of the established Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team based in Athleague and will deliver services across Networks 7, 8 and 9, including outreach clinics.
The role will also include clinical leadership, service development, education, and support to colleagues within the wider physiotherapy and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities of Senior/Clinical Physiotherapist
- Deliver a high standard of specialist pelvic health physiotherapy care to adult patients in line with best practice and evidence-based guidelines.
- Independently assess, diagnose, and manage complex pelvic health conditions including (but not limited to) pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, antenatal and postnatal conditions.
- Prioritise and manage a specialist caseload effectively across multiple sites.
- Provide outreach clinics within Networks 7, 8 and 9 as required.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and appropriate clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Act as a clinical resource and specialist advisor for pelvic health within the physiotherapy service.
- Support, mentor, and provide clinical supervision to junior physiotherapy staff and students as appropriate.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pelvic health pathways, policies, and service improvements.
- Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives relevant to pelvic health services.
Communication & Team Working
- Work collaboratively within the Pelvic Health Team and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals regarding assessment findings and treatment plans.
- Participate in relevant meetings, case discussions, and service planning forums.
Requirements of Senior/Clinical Physiotherapist
- BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Registration with CORU as a Physiotherapist.
- Minimum of three years post-qualification clinical experience as a Physiotherapist.
- Significant postgraduate experience in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex pelvic health presentations.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications or accredited training in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.
- Experience working at Clinical Specialist or Advanced Practice level.
- Experience in service development, audit, or research.
