Senior Physiotherapist – MSK and Domiciliary
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Physiotherapist specializing in Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Domiciliary care. The role will serve communities in North Roscommon and East Galway, where you will work with patients both in a clinic setting and through home visits for those who are housebound or have limited mobility. This position requires a self-motivated, highly skilled physiotherapist to deliver exceptional patient-centered care across a diverse patient group, including older adults, individuals with chronic pain, and those with musculoskeletal conditions.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Physiotherapist
- Conduct detailed assessments and physical examinations for MSK conditions, tailoring intervention plans to each patient’s unique needs and goals.
- Develop, implement, and modify evidence-based treatment plans for a wide range of MSK conditions, using therapeutic modalities such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, and patient education.
- Provide in-home physiotherapy to patients across North Roscommon and East Galway, adapting treatment approaches based on home settings.
- Assess home environments and provide guidance on mobility aids, environmental adjustments, and exercises that support daily functioning and prevent injury.
- Empower patients and their families by educating them on MSK health, self-management techniques, and injury prevention.
- Instruct on safe mobility techniques and provide practical advice on home modifications, fall prevention, and exercise programs that can be managed at home.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including GPs, occupational therapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals, to ensure comprehensive care for each patient.
- Refer patients to appropriate services and community resources as needed.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and maintenance of best practices in MSK and domiciliary physiotherapy.
- Maintain compliance with professional, legal, and ethical standards.
- Document all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in a clear, detailed, and timely manner.
- Provide accurate and thorough reports for audits, clinical reviews, and case conferences.
- Supervise and mentor junior physiotherapists and students, providing guidance and support in MSK and domiciliary care best practices.
- Engage in and promote continuous professional development to remain up-to-date with advancements in MSK physiotherapy.
Essential Qualifications and Skills of Senior Physiotherapist
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Full registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) in Ireland.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience, particularly in MSK physiotherapy and domiciliary care.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for patient visits.
- Willingness to travel across North Roscommon and East Galway.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with elderly populations and managing chronic pain.
- Familiarity with home adaptations, mobility aids, and assistive devices.
- Knowledge of both English and Irish (advantageous but not required).
