Senior Physiotherapist
The Senior Physiotherapist will provide high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex developmental needs as part of a Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Clonmel.
The post holder will work as a key member of an interdisciplinary team supporting children with complex disabilities, including physical, sensory, intellectual, and neurodevelopmental needs.
Responsibilities of Senior Physiotherapist
- Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and review for children with complex disabilities.
- Develop and implement child- and family-centred intervention plans in collaboration with parents/guardians and the interdisciplinary team.
- Deliver services across settings including clinic, home, preschool/school, and community environments.
- Prescribe and review postural management equipment, orthotics, mobility aids, and assistive technology.
- Participate in specialist clinics (e.g., orthopaedic, tone management, seating clinics).
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with HSE standards and GDPR requirements.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to junior physiotherapy staff.
- Support student placements in line with university standards.
- Contribute to team case discussions and clinical governance activities.
- Lead or participate in service audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements of Senior Physiotherapist
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent recognised qualification.
- CORU registration as a Physiotherapist (or eligible for registration).
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical experience.
- At least 1 year working with children with complex physical and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities.
- Experience in supervision of junior staff or students.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills in paediatric physiotherapy.
- Experience in postural management, tone management, and mobility assessment.
