We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Physiotherapist to join our Primary Care team, serving the East Galway and North Roscommon regions. This role focuses on providing high-quality, client-centered Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy care in a domiciliary (home-based) setting. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life for patients experiencing musculoskeletal issues, aiming to reduce pain, improve mobility, and facilitate independent living.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Physiotherapist
- Provide high-standard MSK physiotherapy assessments and interventions in patients’ homes, covering a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
- Design, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Educate and support patients and caregivers on managing conditions and promoting self-care and independence.
- Utilize advanced clinical reasoning to manage complex cases, with the ability to make decisions independently and escalate cases as needed.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic and integrated care.
- Contribute to and participate in case conferences, care planning meetings, and team discussions to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Liaise with community services and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with complex needs.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records and ensure adherence to documentation standards.
- Prepare and deliver reports on patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes as required by service protocols and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all relevant data protection regulations and policies.
- Actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives to improve MSK domiciliary services.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects, audits, and research initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and service efficiency.
- Mentor and support junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants, fostering a learning and development-focused environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience of Senior Physiotherapist
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Full registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) or eligibility to obtain.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience, with at least 3 years in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Experience in domiciliary or community-based care is a strong advantage.
- Advanced MSK clinical assessment and treatment skills, clinical reasoning, strong communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
