Senior Physiotherapist – Primary care
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Primary Care Centre in County Clare. The successful candidate will provide high-quality physiotherapy services to a broad patient base, focusing on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of musculoskeletal, neurological, and other health conditions. The role involves collaborating with other health professionals to ensure a holistic, patient-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Physiotherapist
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients to diagnose and plan appropriate treatment.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for a wide range of conditions (musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, etc.).
- Utilize a variety of techniques such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and education to manage patient conditions.
- Evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Ensure treatment is evidence-based and adheres to best practice guidelines.
- Educate patients and caregivers on techniques and strategies to promote health, prevent injury, and manage chronic conditions.
- Advocate for the needs and preferences of the patient while collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
- Promote independence, self-management, and healthy lifestyle choices in the community.
- Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to junior physiotherapists and other team members.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and other collaborative activities to ensure coordinated care.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of physiotherapy services within the primary care setting.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives, audits, and projects to enhance patient care outcomes and service efficiency.
- Participate in clinical research, development of protocols, and the integration of new evidence-based practices.
Requirements of the Senior Physiotherapist
- BSc (Hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) as a Physiotherapist.
- Minimum of three years post-graduate experience,
- Experience in a variety of physiotherapy areas, including musculoskeletal, neurology, respiratory, and chronic disease management.
- Experience working in a primary care or community setting is an advantage.
