Senior Occupational Therapist
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) in Donegal. This role offers the opportunity to work within a family-centred, interdisciplinary model, supporting children with complex developmental, functional, and sensory needs to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children with a range of disabilities and developmental needs.
- Manage a complex paediatric caseload in line with CDNT and HSE frameworks.
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team including Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, and other relevant professionals.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to staff-grade occupational therapists and students.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Liaise effectively with families, carers, schools, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain high-quality clinical documentation in accordance with HSE and CORU standards.
Requirements for the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- CORU registration (mandatory).
- Significant post-qualification experience working with children with disabilities or complex developmental needs.
- Strong clinical skills across areas such as functional skills development, sensory integration, motor skills, and participation in daily activities.
- Experience providing clinical supervision and demonstrating leadership within a team setting.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within a CDNT or disability service.
- Experience with family-centred, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary models of care.
- Involvement in service development, audit, or quality improvement projects.
