Senior Occupational Therapist
The Senior OT will provide expert-level occupational therapy services to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex needs arising from disability, as part of a Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) in South Dublin. The Senior OT will lead on complex cases, provide supervision to staff and students, contribute to service development, and work in partnership with families and other professionals in line with PDS principles.
Responsibilities of Senior Occupational Therapist
- Lead and manage a complex paediatric caseload, including children with physical, sensory, neurodevelopmental, and intellectual disabilities.
- Conduct advanced assessments and deliver interventions across a range of environments (home, school, clinic, and community).
- Provide expertise in areas such as sensory integration, seating/postural management, self-care, and environmental adaptations.
- Participate in interdisciplinary assessments and collaborative goal setting.
- Apply evidence-based and outcome-focused interventions.
- Act as a clinical resource and support decision-making within the team.
- Contribute to induction and ongoing professional development within the OT and wider CDNT team.
- Participate in planning, evaluation, and development of occupational therapy services in line with PDS standards and team priorities.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and policy development.
- Represent occupational therapy within local and regional forums as required.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in accordance with CORU standards and HSE policy.
- Contribute to caseload management, waiting list prioritisation, and service reporting as required.
Requirements of Senior Occupational Therapist
- Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy as approved by CORU.
- Registration with the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with relevant experience in paediatric disability services.
