Our client who specialises in Acute Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join their expanding multidisciplinary team. This is a unique opportunity to work within mental health service, delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented care in a state-of-the-art facility.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of occupational therapy interventions across secure forensic services, working with service users who experience complex mental health difficulties and require specialist, trauma-informed support.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Manage a complex caseload of service users with severe and enduring mental illness, often with comorbid forensic and risk profiles
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions across secure inpatient units
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, and rehabilitation services
- Contribute to the development and implementation of care pathways and risk management strategies
- Support service users in developing functional, vocational, and social skills to facilitate recovery and reintegration
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff, students, and assistants
- Participate in ongoing service development, clinical audit, and research
Essential Requirements for the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year in a mental health setting
- Strong understanding of recovery-focused, trauma-informed care
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic, secure, and multidisciplinary clinical environment
- Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience in forensic mental health or secure psychiatric services
- Knowledge of structured risk assessment tools and rehabilitation models
- Involvement in service improvement or quality initiatives
