Senior Occupational Therapist
Our client a nationally recognised Forensic Mental Health Service is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team in their centralised acute setting Ireland’s only designated and approved centre for the assessment and treatment of individuals with mental illness who are involved with the criminal justice system.
Our client operates as a therapeutic, non-penal institution delivering high-quality forensic mental health care. The service has recently transitioned to a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility in North Co. Dublin, enhancing their capacity and quality of care across multiple secure environments.
The new campus includes:
- 9 specialist in-patient units
- A dedicated medical and therapy centre
- A 10-bed Forensic Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit
- A 30-bed Intensive Care Rehabilitation Unit (ICRU)
- A modern administrative complex and shared therapeutic facilities
The Senior OT will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services within a dynamic forensic mental health setting. Working within a secure, multidisciplinary environment, your focus will be on supporting recovery, rehabilitation, and community reintegration through structured and meaningful occupation.
You will:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised occupational therapy interventions
- Lead on the development of OT programs in secure mental health settings
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and clinical supervision
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, and social work professionals
Essential Requirements
- A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and CORU registration
- A minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with at least two years in mental health
- Experience in working with complex mental health needs; forensic experience is an advantage
