Location: Portane, North Country Dublin
Salary: €45,773 – €66,341
Type: Full-time, 35 hours p/week, contract 3 months initially with high possibility for extension.
The disability service focuses on enabling people with complex intellectual disabilities to achieve their full potential, living ordinary lives in ordinary places, as independently as possible. The purpose of the post is to ensure the provision of a social work service within the Disability Service context and in so doing, ensuring a rights-based person-centred service to individuals and families.
Key clinical duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality services to service users, adhering to professional standards outlined by CORU (Council for Health and Social Care Professionals).
- Adhere to current legislation, employer’s policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
- Integrate Social Work values and ethical principles into intervention planning, development, implementation, and review.
- Implement evidence-based practices and models of best practice.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the local community, conducting standardized psychosocial assessments and interventions following appropriate referral pathways.
- Collaborate with service users to identify their individual and collective needs, co-creating early interventions and social action strategies.
- Manage and prioritize a caseload relevant to the position.
- Offer emotional and practical support, devising strategies tailored to service users’ needs and providing pertinent information and advice to them and their families.
- Adopt a holistic approach to improve service users’ quality of life, health, and social well-being within the designated area.
- Encourage independence, self-reliance, self-determination, and empowerment among individuals, families, and local groups.
- Plan, implement, and participate in interventions collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and agencies to deliver social work services in appropriate settings aligned with service users’ needs.
- Fulfill responsibilities within a key worker/case worker system, coordinating case management when appropriate.
- Evaluate person-centered care plans collaboratively with service users in a consent-driven manner.
- Promote anti-discriminatory practices and cultural competence.
- Actively engage in team-building and change management initiatives within the team or service.
- Attend court proceedings and tribunals as required.
- Keep the Line Manager informed of significant matters and assume Line Manager duties when agreed upon or deemed appropriate.
Essential Criteria
- Must be registered with CORU
- Must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the properdischarge of the duties of the office
- Demonstrate experience of applying evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge to best practice.
- Demonstrate ability to utilise supervision effectively.
