Person In Charge (Disabilities – Social Care)
Location: Stillorgan, South Dublin OR Kildare, Ireland
Contract: Permanent
Schedule: 40 hours per week plus on call opportunities midweek and weekends
We are seeking a Person in Charge for a highly reputable residential service based in Stillorgan. (There is another vacancy available in Kildare)
Medforce are delighted to have partnered with a residential service that caters for individuals with intellectual disabilities and other kinds of special needs. Our client offers homes for individuals with disabilities – to live, learn, and work with others in energetic reciprocal relationships.
Purpose of Post
To uphold our client’s ethos and values by managing the daily operations of the community, ensuring a safe, high-quality, person-centered environment where individuals can achieve their goals. Provide leadership and line management, ensuring services meet HIQA standards and are effective and sustainable, while promoting an inspiring model of social enterprise and community building.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Leadership
- Report regularly to SMT and provide strategic advice.
- Lead and manage the Community, ensuring skills, resources, and motivation are aligned with objectives.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, HIQA standards, and continuous improvement.
Operational Management
- Oversee service provision across the Community, ensuring staff support and adherence to policies.
- Promote a culture of “no tolerance” to abuse and maintain high-quality service aligned with ethos.
- Manage risk, health, safety, and respond to complaints.
- Support residents in achieving choice, control, and well-being through assessments and person-centered plans.
Staffing
- Ensure effective communication, appropriate staffing levels, and skills mix.
- Address training needs, provide supervision, and ensure compliance with recruitment policies.
Financial Stewardship
- Oversee budget preparation, financial controls, and prudent resource management.
- Ensure financial safeguards are in place for residents’ personal finances.
Residents & Support
- Engage with residents to shape support around their needs and aspirations.
- Foster citizenship, advocacy, and personal fulfillment.
Partnership Working & Networking
- Build collaborative relationships with external partners.
- Serve as the spokesperson for the Community, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory duties.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of a Level 7 on the QQI Framework – BA in Social Care Studies, Social Care Management or equivalent relevant qualification in Health or Social Care.
- Post graduate qualification ideally in Social Care Management or Management Qualification.
- At least 3 years of senior management experience at a similar level of responsibility including demonstrative experience strategic planning
- At least 5 years’ experience in the health/social care or voluntary sector
