Person in Charge
A residential disability service based in Galway is currently seeking a Person in Charge (PIC).
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social care professional to step into a leadership role supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the service, leading a dedicated team while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities of the Person in charge:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the residential service
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care and support
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and community inclusion for service users
- Lead, support, and supervise staff members to achieve positive outcomes
- Ensure compliance with HIQA regulations, national standards, and organisational policies
- Manage staffing, rostering, budgets, and resources effectively
- Oversee safeguarding, risk management, incident reporting, and quality improvement initiatives
- Build positive relationships with service users, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
Requirements for the Person in Charge:
- Relevant Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Nursing, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ management or leadership experience within disability, residential, or social care services
- Strong knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism
- Previous experience in a Person in Charge or senior management role
- Knowledge of safeguarding, positive behaviour support, and person-centred planning
