Occupational Therapy Assistant – Children’s Disability Team
My client is a provider of services for children with disabilities, dedicated to helping them reach their full potential. Their multidisciplinary team works closely with families to support children’s physical, emotional, and social development in a compassionate and inclusive environment.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and empathetic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Children’s Disability Team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to support children with a wide range of disabilities. You will help implement therapy programs, assist in the preparation of activities, and provide hands-on support to children during sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Occupational Therapists in delivering therapy sessions tailored to each child’s needs.
- Support children in developing fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
- Prepare and organize materials and equipment for therapy sessions.
- Monitor and document children’s progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Encourage and motivate children during therapy activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming therapy environment.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Preferred:
- Previous experience in a pediatric or school setting.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
