Occupational Therapy Assistant
Location: Leitrim
Salary: In line with HSE pay scales
Contract: 6 months with a view to extend, 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with disabilities? Our client is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join their Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT). In this role, you will support occupational therapists in delivering high-quality care and interventions that help children reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside occupational therapists to assist in the assessment and treatment of children with a range of physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges.
- Support children in engaging with therapeutic activities aimed at improving motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living tasks.
- Help with the preparation and maintenance of therapeutic equipment and materials.
- Monitor and document progress, providing feedback to the occupational therapist.
- Assist in running group therapy sessions for children, focusing on play, social skills, and fine motor development.
- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, parents, and caregivers to ensure holistic support for each child.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally in a healthcare or therapy setting.
- A relevant qualification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (e.g., FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Healthcare Support or equivalent).
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy when working with children and families.
- A genuine passion for helping children with disabilities achieve their goals.
Desirable:
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism, developmental delays, or other complex needs.
- Knowledge of sensory integration techniques.
