Occupational Therapist
Medforce Healthcare Recruitment is currently recruiting a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based at a Centre in Portlaoise.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist seeking to develop their paediatric and disability experience within a supportive multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work with children and young people presenting with a range of developmental, physical, sensory, and complex needs, helping them achieve greater independence and participation in everyday activities.
The Role
As part of the CDNT, you will:
- Carry out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people
- Develop and implement individualised intervention plans
- Support children with:
- Fine and gross motor skills development
- Sensory processing needs
- Self-care and daily living skills
- Play and social participation
- School readiness and classroom participation
- Provide recommendations regarding assistive equipment and environmental adaptations
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, and community services
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and family-centred planning
- Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in line with professional standards
Requirements for the Occupational Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
- CORU registration (or eligibility for registration)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Full driver’s licence and access to a car is desirable
Desirable Experience for the Occupational Therapist:
- Paediatric placements or clinical experience
- Experience working with children with developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing difficulties, or physical disabilities
- Knowledge of family-centred practice and disability services
