Occupational Therapist
We are seeking a motivated and committed Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team at an acute service in Dundalk. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a busy acute hospital environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centred occupational therapy services across a range of clinical areas.
Key Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist:
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to inpatients and/or outpatients in line with hospital pathways.
- Support patients with functional assessment, rehabilitation, discharge planning, and safe transition from hospital to home or onward care.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and social work colleagues.
- Participate in discharge planning meetings and liaise with community and primary care services to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital, HSE, and CORU standards.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Requirements for the Occupational Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- CORU registration (mandatory).
- Ability to manage a clinical caseload effectively within an acute hospital setting.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Experience in areas such as medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, geriatrics, or rehabilitation.
- Experience with discharge planning and community liaison.
