Occupational Therapist
The Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality, evidence-based assessments and interventions to children and young people within the Mullingar CDNT, working with a multidisciplinary team to support children with developmental and complex needs, helping them achieve functional independence and enhance their quality of life. For this position we will accept Staff or Senior Grade applications.
Key Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children with a range of developmental, physical, and sensory challenges.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans, including direct therapy, home programs, and group sessions.
- Work with children to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care tasks, and play activities.
- Monitor and review progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports on assessment findings, progress, and recommendations
- Work closely with other professionals in the CDNT (speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists) to provide holistic care for children.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and joint planning of care.
- Provide advice to schools and other service providers on adaptations and strategies to support children’s participation in activities.
- Provide education and guidance to parents and caregivers on supporting children’s development, including strategies for home-based interventions.
- Offer counseling and emotional support to families facing challenges related to their child’s developmental needs.
Experience of Occupational Therapist
- A recognized degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Irish Association of Occupational Therapists (IOT).
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in pediatric occupational therapy, preferably in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities, sensory processing issues, and complex needs.
