My client is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality occupational therapy services to individuals and groups across West Clare, enabling clients to achieve optimal independence and quality of life. This is a primary care unit.
Key Responsibilities of an Occupational Therapist
- Assess clients’ functional abilities and needs using appropriate assessments and clinical reasoning.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on identified goals, in collaboration with the client, their family, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Deliver interventions to promote independence in activities of daily living, work, leisure, and other meaningful occupations.
- Advise on the provision of assistive technology and home modifications to support functional independence.
- Monitor, evaluate, and adjust treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with medical, nursing, social work, and other allied health professionals.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, families, carers, and relevant stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of occupational therapy services among colleagues and the wider community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with HSE policies and standards.
- Contribute to service evaluation, audits, and reporting as required.
- Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) activities, including supervision and relevant training.
- Contribute to the training and mentoring of students and junior staff.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist
- Hold a recognized qualification in Occupational Therapy approved by CORU.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the CORU Occupational Therapists Register.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering client-centered occupational therapy interventions.
- Experience in one or more relevant settings: acute care, primary care, mental health, rehabilitation, paediatrics, or community services.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full driver’s license and access to own transport (if required for community or home-based work).
