General Practitioner (GP) Opportunity with Medforce Healthcare – County Dublin

Medforce Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner (GP) to join a busy and thriving practice in County Dublin. The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive primary care to a diverse range of patients, from paediatrics to geriatrics. This role focuses on delivering high-quality healthcare, managing chronic conditions, and promoting preventive care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Consultations:
  Conduct thorough assessments, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions across all age groups.

• Preventive Care:
  Advise patients on preventive health measures, including vaccinations, screenings, and lifestyle improvements.

• Chronic Disease Management:
  Monitor and manage patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and more.

• Specialist Referrals:
  Coordinate referrals to specialist services when necessary to ensure patient needs are met.

• Emergency Care:
  Provide urgent medical care for acute illnesses, injuries, and emergencies that arise at the practice.

• Record Keeping:
  Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records using electronic health systems such as Socrates or HealthOne.

• Prescription Management:
  Prescribe medications safely and appropriately, adhering to clinical guidelines and patient safety protocols.

• Health Promotion:
  Participate in public health initiatives such as smoking cessation programs, vaccination drives, and weight management campaigns.

• Collaboration:
  Work closely with practice nurses, administrative staff, and other healthcare professionals within the practice and local community.

• Home Visits:
  Conduct home visits for patients unable to attend the clinic due to illness or immobility.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Medical Degree:
  A recognised qualification in Medicine (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent).

• Irish Medical Council Registration:
  Fully registered or eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council.

• Experience:
  Previous experience in a general practice setting is essential.

• Communication Skills:
  Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a strong focus on building lasting doctor-patient relationships.

• Problem-Solving:
  Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.

• Teamwork:
  Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

• CPD Commitment:
  Dedicated to continuous professional development and staying informed on the latest medical advancements.

Desirable:

• Irish Healthcare System Knowledge:
  Familiarity with the Irish healthcare system and electronic medical software such as Socrates or HealthOne.

• Specialist Interests:
  Experience or additional qualifications in areas such as women’s health, paediatrics, would be advantageous.
