Dietitian
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Grade Dietitian to join the Acute Mental Health Team within a hospital setting in Dublin.
The successful candidate will provide specialist nutritional assessment and intervention to adults presenting with complex mental health needs, supporting recovery through evidence-based dietetic practice. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced acute environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Dietitian:
- Deliver comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients within an acute mental health setting
- Develop and implement individualised nutrition care plans to support physical and mental health outcomes
- Provide dietary interventions for patients with eating disorders, disordered eating, metabolic syndrome, and medication-related weight changes
- Monitor nutritional status and contribute to risk management planning
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nursing staff, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other members of the MDT
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff regarding nutrition and mental health
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards
- Participate in audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Dietitian:
- BSc (or equivalent) in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
- CORU registration as a Dietitian
- Experience working with adults in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of nutrition in mental health and psychotropic medication management
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload within an acute setting
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within mental health services
- Experience managing eating disorders or complex nutrition cases
- Postgraduate training relevant to mental health or clinical nutrition
