Assistant Director of Nursing
Role Overview
Exciting role based in Sligo for an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to provide strong clinical leadership and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in our Sligo nursing home. Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON will manage day-to-day clinical operations, oversee staff, coordinate rostering, ensure clinical governance, and monitor audits and risk management. The ADON will also deputise for the DON as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain exceptional nursing and social care standards in line with HIQA and company policies.
- Conduct ward rounds, review care plans, and monitor resident outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and support CNMs, staff nurses, and carers; manage induction, training, and performance appraisals.
- Oversee clinical practice, medication management, audits, hygiene, and risk assessments.
- Promote effective teamwork and communication across the clinical and wider care team.
- Engage with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure person-centred care.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications & Experience
- Registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Previous healthcare management experience with a proven record of clinical leadership.
