We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role is based in a well-established nursing home and rehabilitation centre located just off the motorway in Oranmore, offering easy access from surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will join a strong clinical leadership team including a Person in Charge (PIC), Director of Nursing (DON), ADONs, and CNMs. This role includes participation in a shared on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
- Support the DON in managing daily clinical operations
- Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care
- Maintain compliance with HIQA standards and best practice guidelines
- Assist in developing and reviewing clinical policies
Staff Management & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing and care staff
- Assist with workforce planning and rostering
- Promote a positive and collaborative working environment
- Identify and support staff training and development needs
Governance & Quality Assurance
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Support risk management, incident reporting, and safeguarding
- Contribute to HIQA inspection readiness and compliance
Resident-Centred Care
- Promote dignity, independence, and holistic care
- Support person-centred care planning
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, and stakeholders
Operational Support
- Assist with service development and strategic planning
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the service
Requirements
- Active registration with NMBI as an RGN, RNID, or RPN
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior nursing role within older person care
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards and the Health Act 2007
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management, Gerontology, or related field (support provided)
- Interest in quality improvement and service development
