Qualified Social Worker
We are currently recruiting for Professionally Qualified Social Workers and Team Lead Social Workers to join an Adult Safeguarding Team covering Longford, Westmeath, Laois and Offaly.
The service works with vulnerable adults who may be experiencing, or are at risk of, abuse, neglect, exploitation or other safeguarding concerns. The successful candidates will play an important role in promoting the safety, dignity, rights, autonomy and independence of vulnerable adults.
These are excellent opportunities for Social Workers with experience in adult safeguarding, vulnerable adult services, community work or complex case management.
Key Responsibilities of the Social Worker
Depending on grade, responsibilities will include:
- Completing safeguarding and risk assessments.
- Responding to concerns relating to abuse, neglect and exploitation.
- Developing and reviewing person-centred safeguarding plans.
- Working directly with vulnerable adults, families and carers.
- Advocating for the rights, wishes and preferences of individuals.
- Managing complex and sensitive cases.
- Liaising with healthcare professionals, community services and external agencies.
- Participating in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences and safeguarding reviews.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records.
- Contributing to service development, quality improvement and best practice.
Team Lead Responsibilities
For the Team Lead position, additional responsibilities will include:
- Providing professional leadership and clinical supervision to Social Work staff.
- Supporting staff with complex safeguarding cases and risk management.
- Overseeing caseload management and prioritisation.
- Providing guidance on safeguarding assessments and intervention.
- Supporting high standards of professional practice, documentation and governance.
- Contributing to audit, quality improvement and service development.
Essential Requirements for the Social Worker
For both positions:
- Recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current CORU registration.
- Knowledge of adult safeguarding and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Full driving licence and access to own transport.
- Garda Vetting required.
For Team Lead:
- Significant post-qualification experience.
- Previous experience in adult safeguarding and/or working with vulnerable adults.
- Experience providing supervision, leadership or professional guidance.
