Location: Rathmines, Dublin
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 36–48 hours per week, shift work
Starting Rate: €18.19 per hour, negotiable depending on experience
About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, motivated and resilient Social Care Workers to join a specialist residential service supporting Separated Children Seeking International Protection.
You will play a key role in providing a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home environment where young people feel respected, supported and empowered to develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.
The role involves working closely with young people, colleagues and external professionals to support their emotional wellbeing, education, health, development and integration into the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
- Provide high-quality, child-centred and rights-based care.
- Support individual Placement Plans and Care Plans.
- Promote children’s rights, participation, independence and cultural identity.
- Support education, healthcare appointments, life skills and recreational activities.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home environment.
- Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour using trauma-informed and positive behaviour approaches.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with Children’s First and organisational policies.
- Complete accurate and timely daily records and reports.
- Work collaboratively with Social Workers, schools, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and continuous quality improvement.
- Work a rolling shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, sleepovers and public holidays where required.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Social Care or a relevant related discipline.
- Current CORU registration.
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good report-writing and professional recording skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong professional boundaries and emotional resilience.
- Commitment to child-centred, rights-based and trauma-informed practice.
- Flexibility to work a rolling shift pattern.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Satisfactory Garda Vetting.
