Assistant Director of Nursing (1-year Maternity Leave Contract)
Location: Riverstick, Cork
Salary: €65,000-€70,000 per annum + pension contribution
Contract: 1 year maternity leave contract
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
Annual Leave: 23 days
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our established nursing home in Riverstick, Cork on an interim basis.
Working closely with the Director of Nursing, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of clinical care, supporting the nursing team, and promoting a culture of excellence throughout the home. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Nursing in the overall clinical and operational management of the nursing home.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care to all residents.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the nursing and care teams.
- Assist with staff management, rostering, recruitment, performance management, and training.
- Promote and maintain compliance with HIQA standards, policies, and relevant legislation.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, audits, and risk management.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders.
- Act as the Director of Nursing in their absence when required.
Essential Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) PIN.
- A minimum of 3 years’ management experience within the last 6 years.
- At least 3 of those years must have been in a nursing home environment.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards and Irish healthcare regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and deliver high standards of clinical care.
