Senior Occupational Therapist
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Letterkenny.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, family-centred services to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex developmental needs. The service operates under the Progressing Disability Services (PDS) framework, promoting an interdisciplinary and holistic approach to care.
This is an ideal role for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about paediatrics, disability services, and collaborative team working.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children with physical, sensory, and developmental needs
- Manage a complex paediatric caseload within a CDNT setting
- Develop individualised, goal-focused intervention plans in partnership with children and families
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, case formulation, and care planning
- Support school and community-based interventions where appropriate
- Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to staff grade OTs and students
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with CORU and organisational standards
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Current CORU registration
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience
- Experience working with children and young people with disabilities
- Strong understanding of family-centred practice and interdisciplinary team working
- Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a CDNT or under the PDS model
- Postgraduate training in paediatrics (e.g. sensory integration, assistive technology, neurodevelopmental approaches)
- Experience supervising junior staff or students
