Senior Occupational Therapist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Letterkenny Primary Care.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, family-centred services to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex developmental needs, in line with the Progressing Disability Services (PDS) framework.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician who is passionate about paediatric disability services and interdisciplinary team working.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children with physical, sensory, and developmental needs
- Manage a complex paediatric caseload within a community-based CDNT setting
- Develop individualised, goal-focused intervention plans in partnership with children and families
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, case formulation, and care planning
- Support school liaison and community-based interventions where appropriate
- Provide clinical supervision and support to staff grade OTs and students
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with CORU and organisational standards
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Occupational Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Current CORU registration
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience
- Experience working with children and young people with disabilities
- Strong understanding of family-centred practice and interdisciplinary working
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and organisational skills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a CDNT or under the PDS model
- Postgraduate training relevant to paediatrics (e.g., sensory integration, assistive technology, neurodevelopmental approaches)
- Experience supervising junior staff or students
