Dietitian
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Grade Dietitian to join a Primary Care Team delivering services to both adult and paediatric populations within a community setting.
The successful candidate will manage a varied and rewarding caseload, providing evidence-based nutritional assessment and intervention to individuals across the lifespan. This role offers excellent exposure to diverse clinical presentations while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities of the Dietitian:
- Provide comprehensive nutritional assessment and intervention for both adult and paediatric patients within Primary Care
- Manage a varied caseload including chronic disease management, weight management, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, cardiovascular health, and paediatric growth or feeding concerns
- Develop and implement individualised nutrition care plans aligned with best practice guidelines
- Deliver group education sessions where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with GPs, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, public health nurses, and other MDT members
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Dietitian:
- BSc (or equivalent) in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
- Current CORU registration as a Dietitian
- Clinical experience managing adult and/or paediatric caseloads
- Strong assessment, care planning, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently within a Primary Care setting
- Full clean driving licence and access to own transport (if community visits are required)
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within HSE Primary Care services
- Experience delivering group education programmes
- Postgraduate training relevant to paediatrics, chronic disease management, or community nutrition
