Senior Social Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team in North Dublin. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist mental health assessment and intervention to children, adolescents, and their families.
This role requires a motivated and experienced practitioner with strong clinical skills, a child- and family-centred approach, and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic mental health setting.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Social Worker:
- Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments of children and adolescents referred to CAMHS
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people and their families
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team formulation, care planning, and case reviews
- Manage a defined caseload in line with service priorities and best practice guidelines
- Undertake risk assessments and contribute to safeguarding and child protection processes as required
- Liaise with external agencies including Tusla, schools, primary care services, and community supports
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and legal standards
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students where appropriate
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Social Worker:
- Qualification as a Social Worker recognised by CORU
- Current registration with CORU (Social Workers Registration Board)
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience working with children and families
- Demonstrated experience in assessment and intervention with vulnerable children and young people
- Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and policy
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) or a mental health setting
- Postgraduate training relevant to child, adolescent, or mental health practice
- Experience in therapeutic modalities relevant to young people (e.g., CBT-informed approaches, systemic/family work)
