We are currently recruiting qualified Social Care Workers to join a dedicated residential team in Galway City. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference, supporting individuals to live fulfilling and independent lives in a person-centred environment.
About the Role
As a Social Care Worker, you will provide residential and respite support to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. You will work as part of a supportive staff team, delivering high-quality care in line with best practice, HIQA standards, and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day residential care and support

Act as Person in Charge in the absence of the Service Manager

Support individuals who may present with behaviours that challenge

Develop and implement individualised, person-centred plans
-
Act as Key Worker for assigned individuals, liaising with families and MDTs
-
Support skill development including daily living, social, leisure, and community skills
-
Administer and record prescribed medication
-
Support and guide Care Assistants where required
-
Promote independence, dignity, and self-worth
-
Assist with personal care, household tasks, and community integration
-
Maintain accurate records and reports
-
Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and health and safety requirements

Participate in shift rosters including sleep-ins and night duty
-
Drive service vehicles and/or use own transport as required

Essential Criteria
-
Level 7 or higher qualification in Applied Social Studies, Social Care, or a related discipline
-
CORU registered
-
Previous experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities or similar settings
-
Full driving licence with access to own vehicle

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills

Motivated, energetic, and person-centred approach

Ability to advocate on behalf of individuals supported
