Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Medforce are delighted to partner with a leading voluntary organisation providing high-quality, person-centred services to over 400 children and adults with intellectual disabilities across Mid/South Kildare, East Offaly and West Wicklow.

Our client is the Lead Agency for the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) in South Kildare and West Wicklow, supporting children and young people aged 0–18 with complex needs. Due to continued service development, they are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to support the delivery of the Assessment of Need (AON) process and provide specialist intervention within an established interdisciplinary team.

The Role

As a Senior SLT, you will contribute to the planning, coordination and delivery of AON and speech and language therapy services, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary framework. You will provide clinical leadership, demonstrate advanced assessment and intervention skills, and ensure service delivery aligns with national standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:

Planning and Organising
• Plan and manage a schedule of assessments in collaboration with colleagues
• Demonstrate strong time management and caseload prioritisation
• Apply clinical reasoning and sound decision-making across complex presentations
• Manage unexpected challenges with flexibility and professionalism
• Maintain consistent, disciplined performance even in high-pressure situations

Professional Development & Service Standards
• Demonstrate advanced clinical skills in assessment, intervention and diagnostics
• Ensure compliance with all professional, legislative and organisational standards
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records and technical data
• Ensure adherence to health and safety requirements and proper use of clinical equipment

Integrity & Decision-Making
• Uphold professional values and relevant professional bodies
• Make timely, well-informed decisions grounded in best practice and available evidence
• Use logical reasoning to break down complex challenges
• Promote and contribute to evidence-based service development

Service Delivery & Initiative
• Work collaboratively with children, families, carers and interdisciplinary colleagues
• Engage enthusiastically in service delivery and organisational projects
• Demonstrate initiative and commitment to high-quality, family-centred care

Requirements

• CORU registration as a Speech and Language Therapist
• Eligible for or currently at Senior Grade level
• Relevant experience working with children with complex needs or within disability services
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
