Our client is a national leader in specialist palliative care, providing compassionate, person-centred care for adults with life-limiting illnesses. They offer both in-patient and community-based services, guided by excellence in clinical practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and dignity in care.
We are inviting applications for Staff Grade and Senior Grade Physiotherapists to join our client’s specialist palliative care team in an acute setting in Cork. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment delivering essential physiotherapy services to patients and families at all stages of their palliative journey.
Key Responsibilities of the Physiotherapist:
Staff Grade Physiotherapist:
- Deliver individualised physiotherapy assessments and treatments for patients with complex needs.
- Support symptom management (e.g., pain, breathlessness, fatigue).
- Promote functional independence, mobility, and quality of life.
- Participate in MDT planning and holistic care delivery.
Senior Physiotherapist:
- Provide advanced physiotherapy assessments and clinical decision-making in palliative care.
- Lead on service development, clinical audits, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Actively contribute to interdisciplinary team working, education, and innovation in care pathways.
- Support community outreach or specialist inpatient care as needed.
Requirements for the Physiotherapist:
Essential (Both Grades):
- BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- CORU registration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A person-centred, empathetic approach to care.
Additional for Senior Grade:
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience with at least 2 years in a relevant area.
- Proven leadership, supervision, and service development experience desirable.
Desirable:
- Experience in oncology, respiratory, neurology, gerontology, or palliative care.
- Full driver’s licence (for community role coverage).
