Medforce are delighted to announce that we are hiring for a Senior Social Worker who will be a key leader within a highly-renowned children’s disability service in Westmeath, driving the delivery of high-quality social work services for children and families with complex needs. The role focuses on supporting children and young people with disabilities, addressing their developmental needs through therapeutic interventions, advocacy, and safeguarding. The Senior Social Worker will also take on responsibilities in team coordination, staff supervision, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic, family-centered approach to care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive social work assessments, interventions, and care plans for children and families within the CDNT.
- Collaborate with professionals such as occupational therapists, psychologists, and physiotherapists to provide integrated services for children with disabilities.
- Develop and implement individualized family support plans, addressing the child and family’s overall needs to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Offer guidance and advocacy to children and families, helping them access financial supports, educational resources, and respite services.
- Ensure the safeguarding of vulnerable children, adhering to child protection policies and procedures.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to junior social workers and students.
- Contribute to team development by supporting the induction, training, and ongoing professional development of social workers within the team.
- Lead in the service planning, development, and evaluation of social work services within the CDNT.
- Provide emotional and practical support to families, including crisis intervention, counseling, and assistance with accessing relevant services.
- Champion a family-centered approach, ensuring that the voices of children and their families are at the core of decision-making.
- Take the lead in managing complex cases, working with families in challenging situations such as family breakdowns, mental health concerns, or safeguarding issues.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, team meetings, and collaborative processes.
- Maintain strong partnerships with external agencies, including education providers, community health services, and local authorities.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of children with disabilities within the community and through inter-agency collaboration.
Essential Criteria:
- A recognised Social Work qualification and registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within disability services, child protection, or family support.
- Proven experience in managing complex cases and providing family-centered interventions.
- Strong knowledge of legislation, policies, and best practices in child safeguarding and disability services.
